Thika Municipality has a lot to offer by way of activities and sight seeing.

These include:

FOURTEEN FALLS
It is located about 65 km away from Nairobi off Thika/Garissa Road turning at Makutano Junction. The falls derive the name from their fourteen (14) successive falls of water along the famous Athi River border between Thika and Machakos districts. There is a lot to see and do while in this scenic site like boating, fishing, photography, and bird watching among other activities.

KILIMAMBOGO
It lies near the Fourteen Falls. Kilimambogo is a Swahili word for the Mountain of the Buffalo and home to the late Great Philanthropist Sir Macmillan. Half way up the hill, you will find the graves of Sir Macmillan, his wife and their house helper. It is on the foot of this hill that Macmillan entertained on separate occasions Theodore Roosevelt, the former President of the United States and Sir Winston Churchill, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

MUGUMO TREE GARDENS
It is located along Mugo-Kibiru Road, next to Administration Police residences. The name Mugumo Gardens is as a result of “Mugo wa Kibiro’s” prophesies about the colonization of Kenya.

THIKA AND CHANIA RIVERS
With their natural waterfalls, these rivers originate from the Aberdare Ranges in the Aberdare National Park. It is a scenic place to be and it offers hikers an opportunity to descend and ascend.

OL DONYO SABUK NATIONAL PARK
It is about 25 km away from Thika town and a famous sanctuary for the buffalo. You can also have a chance to climb Mount Kilimambogo.

WALTER COX CLOYSTER MONUMENT
It is in the heart of the central business district. It was erected by settlers during colonial times.

THIKA WORLD WAR MEMORIAL PARK
It is a place where gallant African soldiers were immortalized. It is along General Kago Road.

THIKA RAILWAY STATION
It is the genesis of Thika Town. It was the second stop from Nairobi along the railway line to Nanyuki.

CHRISTINA WANGARI GARDENS
It is located in the Central Business District opposite the Town Hall. It is home for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree, a fountain, fish pond, walkways and a cool garden.

MAMA NGINA GARDENS
It is along Mama Ngina Drive. It contains walkways and public lawns.
